Ask Dr. Monica

Throughout the past five years I have given many talks in Pittsburgh and across Pennsylvania to my physician colleagues in family practice and pediatrics, as well as to school teachers and guidance counselors.

Some frequent topics of interest have been the diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), how to distinguish it from juvenile bipolar disorder, and how to treat anxiety in young children.

Other questions have been related to medication. For instance, I have often been asked how to manage medication that seems to “wear off too quickly”, or “how high can I dose an ADHD medication?” ¬†These questions are among many important and commonly asked questions.

I have been asked repeatedly to do a “clinic” in some of the more rural areas, due to the paucity of mental health providers for children and adolescents. I would like this website to serve as a resource for clinicians, educators, nurses, and any other personnel actively involved in the care of children, adolescents, or adults-especially those with ADHD or anxiety disorders. I feel that my experience of over 20 years in working with children and families can be a valuable resource for others.

Please feel free to send me your clinical questions, and I will be happy to try to help you in the care of your patients/ students.

Note: This service is not intended for use by parents or patients. Only those inquiries signed and with credentials will receive a response.
